What is electricity?
Atoms, free electrons and a battery-and-bulb circuit: voltage, current and resistance.
Transcript
Everything is made of atoms: a positive nucleus, and tiny negative electrons.
The outermost electrons are only loosely held.
In a metal, outer electrons break free, and wander in every direction.
But random wandering means no net flow, so no electricity yet.
A battery pushes the electrons the same way. That steady flow is a current.
Voltage is the push. Current is the flow. And resistance is what slows it down.
Electricity is the flow of electric charge.
